What stands out
These come out of the numbers rather than from any judgement we made. Each one either compares Denver with the other markets we track or points to something uncommon in the Denver data itself.
- Licensed therapists per 100,000 residents: 1207.3 in Denver, above the 719.6 typical of the 19 other Colorado markets we measure.
- Half of Denver's 8616 licensed therapists sit in 7 of the 58 ZIP codes where any of them are located, 893 of them in 80222 alone.
How Denver compares
Each bar shows Denver against the middle value across the other markets we measure. A measure with nothing to compare against is left out rather than compared to itself.
License types
Therapists holding each type of independent license, from the state license register.
Change over time
Each point is one measurement of this market. We keep every snapshot rather than overwriting it, so the line reflects the market rather than the last time we happened to look.

What we could and could not check
8,617 licensed therapists are in the public records behind this page. 18 of them meet our bar to appear in the directory. Every share above is calculated over the licensed therapists we could actually verify, never over the whole market.
How these numbers were produced
Counts come from public records for every licensed therapist in this area, whether or not it appears in our directory. That gap is the point: a directory that reports only on itself tells you nothing you could not see by browsing it.
Per-resident figures use a population of 713,734 from the Census Bureau (acs5-2023).
- Therapists are counted at the address on their state licence, which is often an office or mailing address rather than where they see clients. Many also work online across the whole state, so a town's figure reflects where therapists register, not where care is delivered.
- A licence is not a caseload. Nothing here says who is accepting clients, what they charge, or which insurance they take.
- This register records licences, not websites or availability, so those are not measured.
Where the records come from

What each figure means
- Licensed therapists counted
- Every licensed therapist in the underlying public registry for this area, whether or not it has a profile on this site.
- Licensed therapists per 100,000 residents
- Licensed therapists counted here divided by the town's own population, expressed per 100,000 residents. Licensed therapists are counted where they sit, and people routinely drive to the next town, so a town centre surrounded by suburbs reads high and the suburbs read low. Read it as how concentrated licensed therapists are in this town, not how easy it is for residents to be seen.
